Top Travel Destinations — by David Jonathan & Nikolas Mavresis
A hilarious, fooling, and totally hands‑off effect that always gets a huge reaction.
You introduce a novelty deck sold as “Top 10 Travel Destinations of the World.”
The back of the box is filled with glossy marketing copy about world travel—exotic beaches, must‑see hotspots, and bucket‑list adventures. The front shows postcard‑perfect images of sandy beaches and crystal‑blue water.
You remove the cards from the box. Each card is numbered 1 through 10.
A spectator freely chooses any number. Their selected card is placed face down.
You then show the remaining nine cards one by one—each featuring a stunning location with its name, country, and a beautiful photo: Bali (Indonesia), Aruba (Caribbean), Hawaii (United States), and more.
Finally, you turn over their chosen card.
Instead of a dream vacation… it’s North Korea, complete with a bold military propaganda poster—soldiers, missiles, and Kim Jong Un staring proudly from the artwork. It’s the ultimate “wrong destination” punchline.
But the kicker comes when you put the cards away.
The box that originally read “Top 10 Travel Destinations” now shows the 10 crossed out in red, replaced with a hand‑drawn 9, and underneath in red: “…and North Korea.”
A perfect blend of comedy and surprise.
