Hot Costumes in Fashion

February 13, 2008

Fashion Week in New York City is hot with designs from Bill Blass, Donna Karan, Zac Posen, Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel, Marc Jacobs, L’wren Scott, Betsy Johnson and more. Each designer brought something deliciously unique to the runway. The Bill Blass collection showed the empowerment of women, shadowing a late 60’s look. Fashion models were garnished in hot costumes, styled black tuxedo jackets, fedora hats, fur wrapped dresses with purple hues, and luscious long costume eyelashes. The Donna Karan dress collection was hinted with reflections of toga costume design, each seductively exhibiting criss-cross detailing.  Tiara leafed headpieces adorned each model.  Chanel designs by Karl Lagerfeld included a senorita styled black ruffled gown, couture jackets in tweed, shirts, pants and dresses layered with feathers and metallics.  Lagerfeld  invoked his imagery of shells romantically into each of these designs.  Broaches, ( which are extremely popular in Paris), were the cherry on top accessory to each piece.  L’wren Scott previewed coats, dresses and shoes in an antiquish design with Victorian flair (brass buttons).  Beautifully feminine velvet capes moved gracefully with each model along the way.  Purple gowns were worn with a royal existence, majestically exuding the power of women.  Designer Zac Posen embraced fantasy with his  fairytale costume fashion design in his collection of gowns, and dresses.   What really caught my eye was the minnie mouse costume  inspired dresses and ears in his unique couture line.  Hot Costumes for 2008 are Fashion in New York City.
