What Folks Are Saying About Diapason:
"Diapason is not just another collection of tricks. Instead, it is a journey from creation to performance—with several significant stops in between. In short, this is not just another magic purchase; it is an investment in your art."
-Rick Maue
Author of The Book Of HauntedMagick
"This is very good! I love alot of it. The definitions before each effect are classy. A lot of great magic!"
-Garrett Thomas (Creator of Any Questions? and Ring Thing)
"I just finished working through Patrick Redford ’s “Diapason.” I have seen Redford perform for real people several times. Redford bends, not only metal, but also their minds. His magic is quite unique as is his booklet “Diapason,” which, by the way, means “The entire range of an instrument or voice. A full, rich outpouring of harmonious sound.”
Redford does not call himself a magician but rather a “psychological illusionist.” And “Diapason” is not really a collection of magic tricks, although most of the items therein, taken out of context, are tricks. In context they are performance pieces, complete with patter suggestions and advice on presentational possibilities. Mr. Redford’s patter may not work for everyone but it is certainly worth checking out, if only to gain insight into new ways to approach presentation and character development.
Besides “tricks” you will find in “Diapason” a few essays. For example “The Cold Table” which gives advice to restaurant workers (of which Redford is one) on the dreaded approach to the table. You will also find well-constructed routines (complete with patter) using cards, coins (called dream tokens), rubber bands and ESP cards. You will find items that use no props at all - only the spectators’ hands, brains and eyes. It is difficult to categorize this material since most of the items seem to bridge the gap between mentalism and magic.
“Diapason” is not your typical magic book. It is a refreshing departure from the usual and an interesting voyage into the unusual.
Good work Mr. Redford."

"George’s lecture was insightful, and really helped our members to get
creative with some of their ideas. Any magic club would do well to have George present his lecture. Diapason is a worthwhile read for novice and advanced magicians alike."
-John Sturk (In Association with IBM Ring 54 and the MSU magicians club)
"I really like this set of notes, very twisted and creative thinking. Evil Sponge Balls, Dreams and Nightmares, Punching Angels, Wow-for a moment I thought I was reading the Bible.. Thanks George for sharing with us, the magic community needs something new!"
Rudy TwoMoon
"This valuable work comes from the imagination of an insightful creator and performer—and as magicians, nothing is more vital than transforming the things in our imagination into reality. For those that truly read it, Diapason will help bring their magic to life."
-Lance Daniels
"George is a working performer, with plenty of restaurant and corporate "gigs" behind him. You can be assured that he has used (and uses) this material regularly, so it’s definitely practical, effective, and audience-tested.
The book really does have something for everybody, and I wouldn’t hesitate to heartily endorse it."
-Ben Blau
"Inside there is a TON of knowledge that seems like it’s really been well honed. I found the strongest piece of this manuscript was the information on approaching tables while performing close up.
Theres even a mentalism tattoo watch effect which is very cool! Though not everything is mentalism based, there still is a large mentalism section in the notes."
